FAQs from the GHS Forum
BUS:
How will buses be loaded/unloaded? When loading, we decided it was important to have our younger learners in the front of the bus for safety reasons. Families will cohort together. When unloading, they will unload front to back.
INSTRUCTION:
Are the kids only having ⅖ days of instruction? Students will learn new content Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
VIRTUAL/ONLINE LEARNING:
Will there be structured learning or just assignments? There will be a combination of videos of mini-lessons to watch and activities to complete. Homeroom teachers will be responsible for providing feedback to the students in their classroom regardless of who taught the mini lesson in the video.
Can virtual learning be done after hours? Yes. Teachers will be uploading videos and assignments and it is up to you to determine what schedule best meets the needs of your family. Be sure to keep the lines of communication open with the teachers so they know what works for you.
Do students follow the same schedule when doing Virtual Learning as when they are in class? No. Teachers will upload videos to teach concepts. They may be recorded from live instruction, prerecorded, or the teachers may have a live Google Meet. It depends on the individual teacher’s schedules when the videos and assignments will be posted. It will be important to check email and the virtual learning platforms for communication from your child’s teacher.
On Wednesday All Virtual Days how will synchronous meets be organized for homes with children in more than one grade level? I will talk to teachers about how they can stagger meets to avoid this; I will also ask them to post the time of the Wednesday Meet the Monday of that week.
Questions about Google Accounts: They are being set up. Keep an eye out for information in your email.
PICK UP:
Will there be any adjustments to the pick up times to lessen the gap between PreK and K-5? No. We have the pick up times staggered to help with traffic flow.
How will pick up passes be issued? They will be sent home on the first day your child is in the building. Please be sure we have a record of any adults who may be picking up your child.
SHIELDS/CLEANING SUPPLIES:
Are shields currently in classrooms? Yes they are!!!
RECESS:
Procedures and Social Distancing: One grade level will be going outside at a time and each class will be assigned an area to stay and play; students will be redirected to keep their masks on and will be reminded of social distancing.
Will students have recess every day? Yes.
Are kids able to play on the playscape? Yes.
BREAKFAST/LUNCH:
When is breakfast served? Breakfast is picked up in the cafe and eaten as students arrive first thing in the morning.
What about food allergies? There will be a peanut free table. If there is a more severe allergy, it will be a peanut free room which will be communicated to families.
CLEANING:
Will disinfecting be happening throughout the day? Students’ areas will be cleaned after eating by the adult in charge; students will be sanitizing/washing their hands every time they enter/leave the classroom. Custodians will complete a thorough cleaning at the end of the day.
OPEN HOUSE:
Will the Open House be recorded for those of us that work nights? The teachers will be uploading videos for Open House and they can upload their presentations. I will ask about recording the Google Meets.

Questions answered by Nurse Nikki:
If a child needs medicine during the school day, how will they get it?
If your child takes medication during the school day they will come to the Health Room like last year, we will have a separate “holding” room for those students with any Covid/Flu symptoms.
If the nurse’s office is the COVID sick place, where will students go who are hurt?
Minor injuries will be treated in the classroom, any more serious injury will be treated in the Health Room
If my child only has a fever and is prone to fevers, do I have to keep him home for 10 days and/or get a COVID test? If your child comes to the Health Room with a fever they will be sent home, if no other symptoms your child may return after 48 hours fever free without the use of fever reducing medications.
If a student in my child’s class goes home sick with COVID symptoms, will the whole class go home?
No.
If a child in my child’s class tests positive for COVID, will I be notified?
No the class will not be notified, Ledge Light Health District will be notified by the testing site if positive, LLHD will conduct contact tracing at that time.
